Sell Your Used Books
Selling your used books is a great way to support the bookstore. We look for popular, trending titles, Alaska-themed books, or other mint condition/lightly used books. Please read the terms below prior to bringing in your books. Thank you for thinking of The Islander!
Terms: The Islander's experienced book buyers processes used books twice a week. Depending on a book's condition and appeal, 10-20% of new/used book value is given in store credit for books which can be sold in the bookstore. Store credit will be issued within 5 days.
Not all books may be selected for resale in the bookstore.Books that do not match the bookstore collection, or are heavily worn will not be given store credit.
We do not accept:
- Hardcovers available in paperback
- Textbooks, magazines, books with dated information (i.e. older travel guides).
- DVDs, music CDs, VHS tapes, cassettes.
- Books with water-damage, stained pages/covers, underlining, highlighting, permanent stickers, smoke-damage, mold, pet or other odors.
- Books that are significantly older, worn, poor condition mass-market bound
Books that are not selected will be donated to Kodiak Public Library Association or other local charities.
Beginning August 2025: Store credit may be used for books and activity books only; credit is non-transferrable and holds no cash value.
